Lions, Vikings come up short in pitch play
The Belfast and Searsport boys high school soccer teams were in action in recent days, with both coming up short in their respective contests.
The Lions hosted Erskine Academy of South China on Monday, Sept. 23 in a makeup game and were blanked 9-0, while the Vikings fell to host Deer Isle-Stonington 8-3 on Friday, Sept. 20.

Erskine Academy 9, Belfast 0
At Belfast Sept. 23, the Eagles blanked the host Lions, who remained winless on the season.
Sam Wilkinson, Joe York and Zach Isbell scored two goals, while Ryan Rodrigue added a goal and four assists and Trevor Hubbard one goal for Erskine Academy of South China.
Sam Kulikowski made seven saves in goal for the Lions.
In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class B, Belfast (0-5-1, 1.7857 points) is 18th, while Presque Isle (5-1-1, 28.8903 points) is first in the 19-team region. The top 13 teams qualify for the playoffs.
Deer Isle-Stonington 8, Searsport 3
At Deer Isle Sept. 20, the Mariners dispatched of the visiting Vikings with a five-goal win.
Barrett Grant, Troy Reynolds and Dylon Grant scored for Searsport, while Reynolds and Jay Burkard added one assist.
For the Mariners, Pat Duddy scored four goals, while Matt Duddy added one goal and two assists and Krisford Malanio, Noah Davis and Nick Dunham one goal.
Bryce Shorey made 19 saves on 38 shots in net for Searsport, while Ethan Shepard made 15 saves on 24 shots for Deer Isle-Stonington.
In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Western Class D, Searsport (1-4, 1.4881 points) is ninth, while Pine Tree Academy of Freeport (4-0, 19.5055 points) is first in the 12-team region. The top eight teams qualify for the playoffs.
