Local Habitat affiliate's first home under way

Sep 21, 2010

Construction of Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County's first home is making rapid progress, thanks to people such as the GE Rail team, pictured, but more volunteers are needed to help make this dream a reality. Most build time is on the weekends, but weekday volunteers are occasionally needed, too.

Volunteers are asked to bring their own tools, belts, safety equipment, sunscreen, bug spray, a bag lunch and filled water bottle. Additional water will be provided on-site. First-time volunteers will have to take a safety course that will take place at 7:45 a.m.

There is also an opportunity for local businesses or organizations to work together as a construction team, which can be a great morale- and team-building exercise.

To volunteer, e-mail volunteer@habitatofwaldocounty.org and a volunteer coordinator will be in touch.
