Mail carrier gets eyeful, Knox man charged with indecent conduct
Knox — Police say a female mail carrier saw a lot more of a Knox man on her delivery route than she wanted to see, and as a result, police charged the man with indecent conduct.
Nathan Harrington, 38, incurred the charge Monday afternoon, Sept. 16, after Lt. Jason Trundy with the Waldo County Sheriff's Office said the mail carrier told her supervisor that Harrington had engaged in visible lewd conduct as she delivered his mail.
"We received a complaint from the postal service that a mail carrier saw an individual sitting outside their residence in a chair, in plain view... He was completely naked and masturbating," said Trundy, adding the man was later identified as Harrington.
Trundy said the woman told her supervisor that the postal customer had engaged in that conduct twice in her presence within a week's time, and she reported it to her superiors at the post office after the second incident.
The postal service then reported the incidents to the sheriff's office.
Trundy said Deputy Matt Curtis responded to the complaint and interviewed Harrington, who said he didn't believe anyone could see him, but Curtis noted in his report that the chair was clearly in view of the road and the mailbox.
Harrington is scheduled to appear at Fifth District Court in Belfast Tuesday, Nov. 19.
