Main Street Festival music

Jul 27, 2012

Belfast — On Friday, Aug. 3, the Belfast Farmers' Market will be back on Main Street for its monthly street festival from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to the offering from local farmers, the market will feature music by Frets Halligan and Vic Tredwell, who combine ukulele and bass with some vocals thrown in the mix.

Halligan has been a musician since his youth. Known for his laid-back, spontaneous style that invites others to join in, he loves the ukulele and does all he can to get others playing it. Tredwell describes himself as "your basic aging hippie, who plays bass in many styles from blues and rock to western swing to the Belfast Bay Fiddlers. Previous incarnations include high school Maine mile champion two years running; quartermaster in the Navy; wanna-be writer in college, then a fortuneteller, a computer wizard, a furniture mover and a farmhand.
