Maine Media elects four to board

Judy O’Dell has been elected chairwoman of the Maine Media Workshops + College board of directors.

Rockport — In the annual meeting Dec. 7, four new members were elected to the Maine Media Workshops + College board of directors: Keith Collins, M.D.; Steven Fierberg, ASC; Cig Harvey; and Louise Rosen. Judy O’Dell was elected as the chairwoman of the board.

Fierberg is an award-winning member of the American Society of Cinematographers with numerous films and television programs to his credit including “Love and Other Drugs,” “Twelve,” “Entourage” and “Attila.” Harvey, a photographer and author whose work is exhibited internationally, is known for her innovative approach to visual storytelling. Rosen is a media executive  specializing in film and television development, production and distribution; she currently serves as both the executive and artistic director of the Maine Jewish Film Festival and as managing director of her international consulting and distribution business, Louise Rosen Ltd. Dr. Keith Collins, founder and CEO of the medical services company HealthExcel, has a long history of bringing new technology to small businesses and entrepreneurs.

O’Dell, who replaces outgoing chairman and current vice chairman John Claussen, has had a 40-year career as a CPA both in public accounting and with the Financial Accounting Standards Board. She currently is chairwoman of an advisory committee of the US General Accountability Office.

Founded in 1973 in Rockport as Maine Photographic Workshops, Maine Media Workshops + College has evolved into a creative center for visual storytellers across many disciplines. Offering immersive photography, filmmaking and multimedia courses in one-day, one and two-week workshops, a one-year professional certificate program and a three-year MFA degree program, Maine Media attracts more than 1,600 students each year from all over the world.
