Maine Photography Show 2017
Boothbay Harbor — After a night-before artists reception and award ceremony, the 12th annual Maine Photography Show opened to the public April 8 at the Boothbay Region Art Foundation’s gallery, 1 Townsend Ave. Selected photos from the more than 800 submitted will be exhibited at the BRAF gallery through May 5.
This year’s juror, fine art landscape photographer Marc Muench, selected images for exhibition from the work of more than 300 photographers from across the state. Midcoast photographers with work in the show include Natalie Masse, Waldoboro; Jeanette Phillipps, Rockland; Matthew Czuchra and Peter Imber, Camden; Ed Kenney and Jason Philbrook, Owls Head; Aidan Acosta and Lynn Luzzi, Rockport; Roberta Baumann, South Thomaston; Lisa Mossel Vietze, Appleton; Sally Brophy and Charles Dufour of Belfast; and Laura Zamfirescu of Monroe.
Muench also selected the prize winners, who were announced April 7. Thanks to generous contributions from MPS sponsors, cash prizes totaled $1,800, including a $500 Best of Show award for Meredith Kennedy’s “My Brain on Dhaka.” This year’s Special Theme is Primary Color Landscape. Waldoboro’s Natalie Masse took third place in that category.
MPS 2017 may be viewed Thursdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; For more information, visit mainephotographyshow.com.
