Maine Senate Republicans elect new leaders
Augusta — Senate Republicans elected two new leaders following the results of the Nov. 6 elections. In an unusual show of caucus solidarity, incoming Senate Republicans unanimously elected Senator Mike Thibodeau (R-Waldo) as Senate Republican Leader and Roger Katz (R-Kennebec) as Assistant Republican Leader.
Newly elected Republican Leader Mike Thibodeau stressed the opportunities the new caucus has going forward to shape state policy. Citing a quote that Ronald Reagan once used, Senator Thibodeau said, “There are no final victories and no final defeats” in American politics. He pledged to work cooperatively with the Governor and legislative Democrats to pursue common sense solutions while adhering to Republican principles.
