Maine Warden Service charges Palermo man with illegal possession of moose
The Maine Warden Service charged a Palermo man for illegal possession of a moose Wednesday, Feb. 5.
According to a press release from Cpl. John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service, Gerard M. Pollard, 57, of Palermo, was charged with illegal possession of moose, a Class E crime.
In addition to Pollard, five other search warrants were executed in the town of Allagash and charges were brought against the suspects.
The warden service was assisted by several state troopers during the execution of the search warrant. Game Warden Lt. Dan Scott stated the suspects charged as part of an investigation into illegal hunting activity in Allagash were “intentional wildlife violators who display a complete disregard for our fish and game laws.”
The warden service worked with the Aroostook County district attorney's office on the investigation and more charges are likely.
