Mallett, food authors at MaineFare
Belfast — Maine troubadour David Mallett will perform Friday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m. on High Street as part of MaineFare, A Celebration of Maine Food and Farming, which takes place both Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6 and 7, in downtown Belfast.
A few years ago, Mallett undertook a special project, recording a new album built around the theme of local food and farming, as part of a broader collaboration with Maine Farmland Trust. He will perform these songs, as well as many old favorites, at this special outdoor concert. Tickets are $25, $10 for those younger than 21.
On both days from 1 to 3 p.m., there will be book sales and signings. Maine is blessed with some great authors who are authorities on food and farm issues, and the downtown Left Bank Books will showcase a broad selection of titles available for sale.
In addition, several authors of recently-published books will be on hand to sign copies. At 1 p.m. Friday, Kathleen Alfiero will sign her “Harbor Fish Market: Seafood Recipes from Maine,” followed at 2 p.m. by Matthew Kenney, author of “Everyday Raw Gourmet” and other titles. On Saturday, Michael S. Sanders will sign “Fresh From Maine: Recipes and Stories from the State's Best Chefs” starting 2 p.m.
