Man accused of making death threat while choking alleged victim
Northport — A 56-year-old Northport man was arrested, police say, after he threatened to kill a woman while he was choking her during an altercation Friday night, Feb. 8.
Henry Benner was arrested on charges of domestic violence assault and domestic violence terrorizing after police were called to a Beech Hill Road residence at 8:22 p.m.
Waldo County Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton said that when Deputy Arthur Smith responded to the scene, the alleged victim reported Benner had started drinking vodka earlier in the evening and the two began arguing. Then, Trafton said, the fight became physical.
"He hit her in the face, dragged her off the couch by her hair and threatened to kill her while he was choking her," said Trafton.
The woman did not require medical attention, Trafton said.
