Knox — Police arrested a Montville man on several charges after police say he held a Knox woman by her throat and damaged her home phone line as she attempted to call 911 to report the incident.

David Walker, 39, of Montville, was arrested on charges of obstructing the report of a crime, domestic violence assault and domestic violence terrorizing after a series of events that police say occurred at a residence on Mixer Pond Road in Knox.

Lt. Jason Trundy with the Waldo County Sheriff's Office said Walker drew the attention of police after the alleged victim used her cellphone to call the Waldo County Sheriff's Office.

Trundy said when the woman called for help she told dispatchers at the Waldo Regional Communications Center that Walker had assaulted her.

"She claimed that he grabbed her by the throat and threatened her when she went to call 911," Trundy said.

The woman also stated Walker then damaged the phone line inside the home in an attempt to prevent her from calling police.

Deputies went to the residence and interviewed both the alleged victim and Walker, after which they arrested Walker and transported him to the Waldo County Jail.

Trundy said the woman suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident but that she did not require medical attention.

Walker is scheduled to appear at 5th District Court in Belfast Tuesday, March 4.
