Man arrested after alleged death threat over $320 loan
Belfast — A Belfast man was arrested Friday night, Aug. 31, after he allegedly threatened to kill a woman if she didn't give him the $320 he said she owed him.
Andrew B. Herrick Sr., 48, of Belfast was arrested on charges of burglary, terrorizing and carrying a concealed weapon after police responded to a reported incident at a Spring Street apartment.
Belfast Detective Sgt. Bryan Cunningham said Herrick went to the apartment at about 11:30 p.m. while intoxicated, and police later learned he was also carrying a concealed knife.
"He claims to have loaned money to the occupant of the apartment and he was there to collect it," said Cunningham.
At one point, Cunningham said Herrick allegedly opened a window to the apartment, grabbed some nearby pillows and threw them on the ground. Cunningham said Herrick also issued a death threat.
"He said he was going to kill her if he didn't get his money," said Cunningham.
Officers arrested Herrick, and Cunningham said Herrick quieted down after arriving at the Waldo County Jail.
Herrick is scheduled to appear at Waldo County Superior Court Thursday, Nov. 29.
