Belfast Maskers practice vocal projection for their outdoor “Brigadoon.”

The Belfast Maskers continue their 25th anniversary theater season with open-air performances of the musical “Brigadoon” by Lerner and Loewe in July and August. This lively show is the central production of the company’s celebratory season with music, dance, live farm animals and humor in a magical evening of theater.

The musical is set in the fictitious Scottish hamlet of Brigadoon, an enchanted village that is unchanging and unknown to the outside world except for one day every 100 years. Two visitors from New York stumble upon the village on its special centennial day and the town’s magical spell is put in jeopardy.

“Brigadoon” performances will be held Thursday through Sunday, July 26 through 29 at 7 p.m. at Steamboat Landing Park in Belfast; and Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 2 5 at 7 p.m. outside Searsport’s Union Hall. Admission for all performances is $18 for adults; $10 for teens; and $5 for children age 5 to 12.

Tickets are available by calling 338-9668 or at the venue one hour before performances. In Belfast, advance tickets also may be purchased at Out of the Woods, 48 Main St. In Searsport, advance tickets also may be purchased at Gallery 37, 37 Main St./Route 1. For more information, call 338-9668.

This central production of the nonprofit Belfast Maskers’ 25th anniversary season is directed by Aynne Ames with musical direction by Jamie Hagedorn and choreography by Iveagh Gott with Michelle Cox and the Atlantic Ballet Company. The show is produced in cooperation with Tams-Witmark with the generous support of Friends of the Belfast Maskers and the Maine Community Foundation Theatre Fund, Mathews Brothers, Answer Live for ME (AnswerME), Pica Design + Marketing, Bangor Daily News, Camden National Bank, Darby’s Restaurant & Pub, Rollie’s Bar & Grill and Bangor Savings Bank.
