Master knitter works 'Underfoot'

Master knitter Lisa-Marie Haugmoen, whose hat and mittens are pictured, will present a workshop at Searsport’s Penobscot Marine Museum.

Searsport — As part of its winter exhibit “Underfoot: Footwear, Hooked Rugs, In the Cellar and Below Decks,” Penobscot Marine Museum will host a sock-making workshop with master knitter Lisa-Marie Haugmoen Saturday, Dec. 14, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Haugmoen is an expert knitter and is working on designs for a new book by the British wool company Real Shetland Wool/Jamieson & Smith. She knits garments for Vogue Knitting and for knitwear designers and has been knitting since age 4.

This is the first in a series of winter events for the exhibit “Underfoot.” All events take place in Penobscot Marine Museum’s Main Street Gallery, 40 East Main St./Route 1.
