Belfast — Belfast Area High School has announced that this year's Haystack Mountain School of Crafts’ Student Craft Institute recipient is Catherine McGinn.

Every high school in Maine may designate one junior for this prestigious award. The institute is designed to honor and expand students’ artistic abilities and to introduce Maine's internationally-known craft facility, Haystack, to Maine's students.

Students work intensively for three days in one craft area. McGinn will be studying the ceramics studio.

I did report that every High School may designate one student for this Institute, however, it's the first 90 that get accepted. Catherine was an easy choice. Congratulations Catey!
