MCI impresses against Belfast in season's second match
Pittsfield — Belfast golf coach Chuck Lagerbom mentioned Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield as a squad that could find itself winning a state Class B title this year.
If the Huskies' performance Tuesday, Sept. 3 is any indication, they may be well on their way.
MCI's top four golfers shot below 40 and the Huskies surged to four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 147 to 219 against the Lions (0-2), besting the visitors by a whopping 72 strokes at J.W. Parks Golf Course in Pittsfield.
The individual results, with Belfast golfers listed first, were: Alex Fritz (49) lost to Gavin Dugas (36); Logan Mitchell (51) lost to Carter Pearl (36); Grant Starrett (62) lost to Eric Dugas (37); Doyle Bailey (57) lost to Trevor Kitchin (40); Josh Adams (62) lost to Dylan Watrous (38); and Allen Alley (78) lost to Parker Morrison (50).
In junior varsity play, Peter Brunette (73) lost to Nate Tilton (50).
Gavin Dugas and Pearl earned co-medalist honors by shooting 36 for nine holes.
