Meet Your Farmers and Fisherman: A Celebration of Community Supported Agriculture and Fisheries
|Mar 02, 2014|
|1:00 PM - 3:00 AM|
The community is invited to the annual Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and Community Supported Fisheries (CSF) Fair in Belfast, which will take place in the cafeteria of the Troy Howard Middle School (THMS), at 173 Lincolnville Ave (Rte 52) in Belfast, next to the Waldo County YMCA. There will be local produce, seafood and products for sale and sampling. Farms with Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs ask you to commit to purchasing a share of the coming harvest before the season begins. CSAs who've committed to attend the Belfast event include: Bahner Farm - Belmont, The Farmetta Farm - Morrill, Long Shadow Farm - Morrill, New Beat Farm - Knox, Out on a Limb Heritage Farm CSA - Palermo, Singing Nettle Farm (Brooks), Springdale Farm (Waldo), Village Farm - Freedom, and Cheryl Wixson's Kitchen - Belfast. In addition to farms with CSA shares, Glen Libby of Port Clyde Fresh Catch will be selling fresh, sustainably harvested seafood from their fisherman's cooperative and sharing information about their Community Supported "Fish Drop". This event is free; all are welcome. The event is co-sponsored by the Maine Organic Farmers & Gardeners Association (MOFGA), Belfast Transition, THMS Garden Project, and the community-owned Belfast Co-op.
