Mercury in Penobscot River and Bay informational meeting
|Apr 26, 2014|
|3:00 PM - 5:00 PM|
The mercury pollution of the Penobscot River and Bay has been in the news lately. The closures of fishing grounds for lobster and crab directly affects several fishermen in our area. Future testing and more closures may be necessary to ensure safe marine products and clean water for the fish native to the river and those that pass through. After nearly 20 years of pollution it is time to clean up our river and bay. Come and find out the status of the law suit against the former Holtra Chem Corporation and possible mitigation for those problems. The meeting will be held at Stockton Springs Town Hall, and is hosted by Veronica Magnan and sponsored by the Maine Peoples’ Alliance. For more information, call 567-6097.
