Michael Lukacs of Kalispell, Mont., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Sept. 2, of a heart attack. He was 48 years old. Michael was the son of Elmer and Shirley Lukacs. He was born in Brunswick, N.J., but also lived and made his mark in Belfast, Middletown, N.J., and Kalispell, Mont. He is survived by his loving wife Rosalie Lukacs and his four sisters and their husbands, Bill and Marybeth Francis, Judy Lukacs, Michael and Barbara Smith, and Michael and Susan Dean. His passing is also mourned by many nieces and nephews, many to whom he was Godfather.
Michael was a man very devoted to his Catholic faith, who passionately loved his family, his friends and his country. Michael was a faithful parishioner and attendee of The Traditional Latin Mass at St. Catherine Laboure Church in North Middletown, N.J., and loved and respected by all parishioners. The mutual love that he shared with his wife Rosalie was particularly special. Michael made many friends over the years and is remembered fondly for his ear-to-ear smile, his booming voice and his infectious laugh.
Michael’s passion was coaching basketball. He coached teams at both the high school and college level, including Searsport High School, Pratt and Gardner Webb. He also enjoyed playing golf and fly-fishing.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all donations be made for Gregorian Masses to Our Lady of Clearcreek Abbey, 5804 West Monastery Road in Hulbert, OK 74441 in Michael’s name.
