The public is invited to Mid-Coast School of Technology’s annual SkillsUSA Competition Night and Open House, Tuesday, January 14, 2014.

Competitions will be ongoing from 4 to 7pm, with closing ceremonies to follow.

SkillsUSA is a leadership organization partnering students, teachers, and industry to ensure America will continue to have a skilled workforce.  In the process, SkillsUSA helps each student gain confidence, leadership skills, and responsibility.

Winners of in-house competitions will have the opportunity to participate at the state level in March held in Bangor, and those winners may compete nationally in Kansas City, Missouri in June.  At the state and national levels, students have the opportunity to win scholarships, tools, and other trade-related prizes.

Throughout the evening, students and staff will be offering fundraisers in the forms of food sales, a silent auction, and a 50/50 raffle.

The Culinary Arts program’s award winning pork chili or vegetarian potato leek soup will be for sale ($3.00 a bowl). The chili and soup will be served with a choice of a biscuit or cornbread.
