Mom ejected from truck, infants escape crash with minor injuries
Belfast — A Belfast woman suffered broken bones when she lost control of her truck Saturday, Aug. 17, but police say two infants who were secured in child safety seats escaped with scratches and bruises.
Belfast Police Chief Mike McFadden said police are still trying to determine how the driver, Jennifer Lambeth, 29, of Belfast, lost control of the Chevrolet Avalanche she was driving on Back Searsport Road.
The accident occurred at about 2:30 p.m.
"The car rolled a couple of times and hit a telephone pole," said McFadden.
Lambeth was thrown from the vehicle and suffered injuries to both arms, one of her legs, as well as her back and pelvis. Lambeth was transported to Waldo County General Hospital by ambulance.
The two children who were also in the vehicle, a two-year-old and a 10-month-old, sustained scratches and bruises. McFadden said both of the infants were taken by ambulance to the Belfast hospital, where they were treated and released the same day.
McFadden said the accident remains under investigation.
