Rebekahs News

Loyal Rebekah Lodge #92 recently co-hosted a joint reception for Jerry Farnham, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge IOOF of Maine, and Katherine Tweedie, President of the Rebekah Assembly of Maine and their Marshals, Alan Webb and Maxine Clements, at the Shriners Club in Belfast. Approximately 125 members and guests were on hand to congratulate the guests of honor and to bring them best wishes for the coming year. The room and tables were nicely decorated with shooting stars -- the Grand Master's emblem -- and snowmen, moose and evergreen trees -- the President's emblems. Guests were present from Kennebunk to Princeton, and many towns in between. A delicious lunch, elegantly prepared and served by members of the Monroe Community Church, was enjoyed by all present.

At the recent meeting of Loyal #92, Katherine Tweedie hosted a light lunch before the meeting where 35 members and guests were present from Princeton, Phippsburg, Dedham, Auburn, Cape Elizabeth and Scarborough. Following the business meeting, Kathy showed her appreciation to everyone who is supporting her journey through the Rebekah Assembly by  presenting each one with a beautiful tote bag made of cloth with pictures of wildlife and personalized with each person's name and the year 2012-2013, representing her year as president.

Town calendars

The 2013 calendars are here and getting great reviews! They feature photographs of local scenery by local photographers, a new topographic map of Monroe, a handy list of participating advertisers, and useful town services phone numbers. Millie at Wilson's Country Store has agreed to carry them, and you may see a sales table at the Transfer Station and the Town Hall. You can call Martha at 525-3532 or e-mail goodwight@gmail.com to arrange delivery if you are unable to get to one of the locations. The cost is $10. The calendar was developed by graphic designer Norma Whitman of Whitman Graphics, who has volunteered her services for the second year. All proceeds go to support ongoing projects of the Monroe Community Library

On a personal note

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and that we are all getting ready for Christmas and the impending snow. We are all slowly getting over our household sickness. I hope everyone else has been able to avoid it.
