Town Office News
As a reminder, the Select Board will now meet on Mondays. On Monday, November 11, 2013, the Town Office will be closed and the Select Board will not meet.
The Board discussed concerns about Burnham Hill Road with residents. Some of the issues brought up were related to recent ditching work done. Namely enlarging of the road at points and the disturbance of a rock wall along the road. The dirt above a large culvert has been slowly eroding away and residents expressed concerns about this as well. Also, there was talk about possibly posting Burnham Hill Road as off limits to large trucks. The board had planned to drive around and assess town roads as a first step in establishing a multi-year plan for road work. They will physically inspect Burnham Hill Road on Monday and convey their thoughts.
The Select Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed, "Ordinance Restricting Vehicle Weight on Posted Ways," on Monday, October 28. The ordinance is needed to enforce the seasonal posting of town roads that occurs each spring.
Dog licenses and snowmobile licenses are now available at the town clerk's office.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 5. The Montville polls will be open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. For information about absentee ballots, contact Town Clerk Abbie Hills at 342-5544 or email@example.com.
The Select Board is looking for a Montville resident who is willing to serve as the town's representative to the Unity Area Regional Recycling Center. The three-year volunteer position entails a monthly board meeting as well as work responsibilities between meetings. This is a great opportunity to have some input and be in the loop of things in the world of recycling. Very educational as well.
If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Susan Shell at 342-5543 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Montville Fire Department News
An important reminder from the Fire Department to make sure to have your chimney cleaned and your furnace inspected. Also don't forget to replace the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. It will be getting really cold soon enough, so don't put it off.
That's about it for this week. If you have news you would like me to include, or just let me know you read the column, send me an email or give me a call.
