Schools out for the summer! Now you see all that hard work paid off and we got through it no worse for the wear. Have a great summer. Read a book. Climb a tree. Build something. Go fishing. Do some swimming. Ride your bike. Hike a trail. Have a picnic. Ok, ok, you get the idea.
•Montville Field Day is Saturday, August 9.
•Roll-off days are July 12 and 13 from 8 Am to 4 PM.
•The transfer station will be open as usual on July 5.
Free swim lessons for Montville and Liberty kids up to the 8th grade will be held at Stevens Pond in Liberty on weekdays from June 30-July 11 (except July 4). Sign-ups are on June 27 from 12:30 -2:30 at Stevens Pond. For more information, call 446-4532.
Walker Elementary News
There will be a Farmer's Market on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-3:30 pm at Walker School. It will be held from June 23rd through July 23rd. Available will be produce grown at the school greenhouse including carrots, lettuce, radishes, scallions, tomatoes, etc.
Attention all elementary and middle school field hockey players! Field Hockey Camp is July 21st through July 25th at Mount View. Field Hockey Skill Development Sessions run Wednesdays from July 2nd to July 30th from 6:00 to 7:00 at Mount View. These sessions are free and open to any player from K through high school. Come improve your skills and have fun with other field hockey players from around the district. Bottle Drive for Firefighters
Waldo County Firefighters Association is having a county-wide bottle drive between now and June 21st. The proceeds will benefit the 2015 Firefighters Convention — the first ever to be held in Waldo County. Bottles can be dropped off at Waldo Avenue Redemption Center in Belfast, 10-4 Store and Redemption in Montville, or MT Bottles Redemption in Searsport. Please let these locations know that your bottles and cans are donations towards the Waldo County Firefighters Association. Some local Fire Departments will also be open to accept bottles. Please check with your local department before going. If you would like your bottles picked up for donation anytime,or have questions, please call Lisa or Bill Gillespie at 589-3663. Liberty Library News
Honoring Willy Wilmoth – Sunday, June 22nd, 2:00-4:00
There will be a memorial honoring his life at the library on Sunday, June 22nd, 2-4:00. Everyone is welcome. Willy was a wildlife carver, sculptor, environmentalist, and beloved community character. During the month of June, an exhibit of his works will be on display. Many items are for sale.
LEGO Group - Thursdays in July, 4:00-5:00 (Beginning July 10th) A high school Volunteer will be coordinator. If anyone has any Legos that they would be willing to donate, please contact Barb Rehmeyer.
Raffle for a Kindle Fire
The Library is having a raffle for a Kindle Fire 7" Tablet, 8GB. Tickets are $5.00 each. The raffle will be drawn on August 23rd. You do not need to be present to win. This prize was purchased for the library by a generous donor.
Fizz, Boom, Read! is the summer library theme.
Kids, get a Summer Reading Calendar at the library or on the Library website (www.liberty.lib.me.us). Read for 30-minutes a day. Turn in your Calendar at the end of the summer for fabulous science prizes!
