Montville Town News
The words for the week are "Field Day" and if you didn't realize it, the day for the Montville Field Day is swiftly coming upon us. It will be happening August 9th. Organizers would greatly appreciate some input on potluck donations and are also looking for auction items. If you would like to bring a potluck item or have some thing of "great value" (or not) that you would like to donate to the auction, send Karen York an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Any item would be greatly appreciated!
So here is the event schedule for the Montville Field Day 2014:
9 am - Road Race (I don't think you have to register you can just show up at the intersection of Rt. 220 and Center Road; it's about a mile, sloping down)
11 am - Parade starts
12 noon - Chicken BBQ & Potluck donations
1 pm - Kid's Games
1 pm - Cake Baking Contest
2:30 - 3:30 Chinese Auction
There will also be a 50-50 raffle, wagon rides and the Sonny Perry Band will perform. For more information, email Karen York at email@example.com.
Bits and Pieces
-The transfer station is still collecting scrap metal.
-10-4 Store is accepting bottle and can donations for the Montville Fire Department.
-Still accepting toner cartridges for the Staples rewards coupons. Cartridges can be dropped off at the town office.
Liberty Library News
Mad Science Show – Thursday, July 24th, 6:30 at Walker School A jaw dropping science show packed with cool reactions and a real-life Mad Scientist who loves to bust molecules. Sponsored by the Liberty Library. Fun for the whole family!
Story Time, Thursdays at 10:30, at the library features a weekly science theme. Join us this Thursday, July 31st for "Weather" theme. This summer, Story Time activities are geared for kids ages 3-7 and their parents/caregiver, but younger and older children are welcome. There will be stories, songs, games, crafts, and snack – all related to science!
LEGO Group - Thursdays from 4:00-5:00 during July at the library. Only 2 more weeks left!
Genealogy Workshop/Ancestry.com - Thursday, July 31st, 1:00-2:30 Emily Schroeder from Maine State Library will teach a workshop about Ancestry.com Library Edition. We have several computers that can be used or bring your own laptop. Ancestry.com is available free on MARVEL! Maine's virtual library databases, but only from within a public library.
The Pick-a-Prize Raffle and… "THE LAST PIE SALE FOR THE SUMMER" will be held on August 9th. That evening, before the raffle drawing, we will host a Story Slam at the library at 7:00. The theme this year is "Oops!" Come tell your story and listen to friends and neighbors tell theirs. They have to be true stories and they have to be short stories. After that, it is up to you. Everyone who tells a story gets a free Story Slam T-shirt, donated by Liberty Graphics!
The library is selling raffle tickets for a Kindle Fire 7" Tablet, 8GB. Tickets are $5.00 each. The raffle will be drawn on August 23rd. You do not need to be present to win.
