The North Montville Baptist Church, on Halldale Road will be having a service on August 3rd at 3:00 o'clock with Don and Christa Pauley. Don is an accomplished organist and will be playing piano and conducting the service. Also, on August 17th there will be a 1:00 o'clock all-music program. Montville Field Day is Saturday, August 9. Mark your calendars! Organizers would still greatly appreciate potluck donations and auction items. Pie Sale - August 9th 10-12:00 at the library.
Pick-a-Prize Raffle – August 8th, 12:00-4:00 and August 9th, 10:00-5:00, and at Story Slam. Due to the many events that are happening on August 9th, we are going to sell tickets on Friday, during regular library hours as well as on Saturday. Buy a sheet of 25 tickets for $10. You decide which prize you want to win; you can put one ticket in each bag or put all 25 in one bag. The raffle will be drawn after the Story Slam. You do not have to be present to win … except for the door prize.
Story Slam – Saturday, August 9th, 7:00pm at the Library. The theme this year is "Oops!" Come tell your story and listen to friends and neighbors tell theirs. They have to be true stories and they have to be short stories. After that, it is up to you. Everyone who tells a story gets a free, original Story Slam t-shirt, donated by Liberty Graphics.
Mittens & Hats for Kids - There is a basket at the library to collect knitted mittens and hats for kids. If you are a knitter, please help fill the basket with hand knit mittens and hats. They will be given to Waldo Cap for distribution. Sizes for younger children are most needed. For more information, contact Sue Chapin. Sue left directions for 2-needle mittens that you can pick-up at the library if you need a pattern. She also left some yarn. A pattern for hats will be forthcoming.
The library is selling raffle tickets for a Kindle Fire 7" Tablet, 8GB. Tickets are $5.00 each. The raffle will be drawn on August 23rd. You do not need to be present to win.
Thank you all the people who attended the Mad Science Show onThursday, July 24 at Walker School. It was a fun show, enjoyed by many. This program is part of our “Fizz, Boom, Read!” summer program. It was funded by a grant from the Rose and Samuel Rudman Library Trust. The trust was created to encourage libraries in smaller communities to continue and expand programming and outreach.

Condolences to the Marriner family
Steven G. Marriner, 63, of Montville, passed away unexpectedly July 18, 2014, in Belfast. He was born in Belfast Dec. 30, 1950, a son of Harry F. Marriner and Kathryn “Avis” (Littlefield) Beach.
My apologies if I missed anything. I recently had a "cellphone malfunction" and lost some voicemails along the way. Keep trying and I will do my best to get everything in.
