I would like to express my condolences to Christine Cox and her family on the recent passing of her daughter, Jackie. I didn’t know Jackie personally, but I learned a lot about her through Christine and other family members and friends. Christine once showed me a scarf that Jackie had hand painted for her. It was a scene full of Maine animals drawn up and down the length of the scarf. She was an incredibly gifted artist. Even more than that, though, she was a kind and sweet person.
Mark and Ginger Sheldon’s daughter, Gracie, married Brandon Mitchell on Saturday, August 24. In an unusual turn, they kept their wedding very simple and it turned out so beautifully. They were married in the field, behind the gravel pit on Mill Stream Lane. Brandon had worked for months building a trail through the woods from Gary and Faye’s house out to the field. They decorated the trail and set up a welcome area beside the stream for attendees to sign the guestbook. The field was set up with chairs and a wedding arch decorated in flowers straight from the field. The music was simple, as two men played folk-type songs with just a fiddle and guitar. The bride was beautiful in her dress and cowboy boots and the groom looked very handsome dressed like a country gentleman. The reception was back by Gary and Faye’s barn which was set up with tables, decorative lights, and a fire pit. After an incredible BBQ, put on by Ron and Sue Young’s family, we had a campfire, complete with s’more fixins for the “kids” and fireworks for everyone to enjoy. It was a wonderfully laidback and happy gathering.
Don't forget the RSU #20 budget referendum election on Tuesday, September 17 from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M. at the Morrill Community Center.
