The Morrill Fire Department and the Auxiliary held their annual auction and yard and bake sale on Saturday, August 2. The auction raised approximately $6500 to help towards training and purchasing equipment. They would like to extend their appreciation for the items that were donated, the raffle tickets that were purchased, the food items that were baked and donated, as well as other generous donations received from various members of the town. They would also like to extend a thank you to the fire fighters, auxiliary members, and the auctioneer, Rob Fowler, for all their hard work to make it, once again, a very successful fundraising event.
I would like to extend my condolences to the Littlefield family with the recent passing of Ernest Littlefield. My you find peace in your time of grief.
Place family reunion
I received the following from Morrill’s former columnist, Nancy Hannington:
The annual Place family reunion was held on Saturday, July 19 at the Royce Place home in Morrill. After a great BBQ, some took turns four-wheeling, compliments of Randy Places’s UTV. Randy and Tina’s son, Blaine, humored some of the older gang by being the driver until they “got the drift.” Twin spotted fawns were sighted on one of the trips and were a real treat.
The day ended with some great fireworks. Years (many years) ago, before fireworks were banned, it was the highlight of the reunions and now it seems the tradition is back.
Sadly, we lost two loved ones this past year, both from Morrill, Merl Weymouth and Mary Jean Smith, but there are babies coming along on the other end to keep the family line going.
