Historical Society meeting
Morrill Historical Society plans to meet at the Smith House on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m. They plan to continue sifting through a collection of old photos and have a quick follow-up on old business. Anyone who would like to attend is welcome. For further information contact Anne at 342-2170. Leave a message.
Anyone wanting information on the withdrawal from RSU20 Committee activity should contact the Morrill Town Office. Updated information on the request plan for withdrawal is going to be sent to the office, where residents may recieve a copy. An Oct. 23 deadline is the goal of the Belfast Committee for Withdrawal, and they are working hard in conjunction with Morrill and other towns to devise a practical plan to be submitted to the Department of Education.
There will be a benefit dinner for Brianna Spaulding,, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, at the Belmont Town Office Sept. 29 5-7 p.m. It is being hosted by the Fire Department. It is a potluck supper. Cost is $5.
Belfast High School's class of 2016 is hosting the second annual haunted walk. This year's walk will be at the high school on Friday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Oct. 27, 6- 9:30 p.m. Watch for more information in coming weeks. Free Fall Harvest Festival, Sunday Sept. 30, noon-3 p.m. at New Life Community Church on Route 173 in South Montville. There will be fun for the whole family with a chicken barbecue, bounce house, games, cotton candy, fresh-pressed apple cider, crafts, music and more! All ages are welcome. A reminder that Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County is holding its third annual auction. They are seeking donations of (new) goods or services to be offered. The auction is to be held at the Hutchinson Center in Belfast on Saturday, Oct. 20. Your donation to the auction will help a most worthy cause. If you cannot donate to the auction, we hope you will come to support us. Donations can be picked up. Fourth Annual Frye Mountain Heritage Tour
Once again the Monville Historical Society is offering horse-drawn wagon tours of Frye Mountain. Each ride aboard the open wagons lasts about two hours, and there are nine wagons. The tours travel past marked sites of old farms, schools, and cemeteries. We are looking forwards to learning more this year. Pre-registration is needed to confirm a seat on the tour. Montville Fire Department
The Chinese auction that was postponed due to weather has been revamped and rescheduled for Sept. 29 and 30 at the fire house on Route 220 in Montville. They will open the auction on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. On Sunday they will open at 3 p.m. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, and soda available both days. They expect to start the drawings for the Chinese auction about 5:30 p.m. followed by the closing of the silent auction, at which time the winners will be announced.
