Northport — Emergency personnel were on the scene of a two-vehicle accident that blocked the southbound lane on Route 1 at the intersection of Beech Hill Road and Saturday Cove Road shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8.

Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton, of the Waldo County Sheriff's Office, said the driver of a tan, 2003 Toyota Camry turned left in front of a red, 2000 Yamaha V Star, driven by Daniel McIsac, 55, of Nova Scotia, which caused McIsac to be thrown 25 feet before striking the pavement.

Trafton said the driver of the Camry told police the sun was very bright as he was attempting to turn, and did not see the motorcycle approaching.

McIsac was transported to Waldo County General Hospital to be treated for non-life threating injuries. Trafton said it is unclear if any charges will be filed.

Northport Fire and Rescue, Belfast Rescue and the Waldo County Sheriff's Office responded to the accident.
