MRC Welcomes New Tennis Pro
MRC is pleased to welcome Milan Babik to its tennis staff!
Milan is a native of the Czech Republic and a product of the Czech tennis school. He was introduced to the game at the age of 5, grew up on clay courts, and achieved national junior rankings before coming to the United States on a scholarship from Berkshire School, a boarding school in western Massachusetts. At Berkshire, he went undefeated in his senior year in both men's singles and doubles and helped the team win the Southern New England Prep School Tennis League Championship. Subsequently he enrolled at Colby College, where he briefly joined its Division III team before turning his full attention to academics.
Aside from enjoying tennis, Milan holds a PhD in international relations from Oxford University, has recently published his first book, and is joining the MRC team after several years spent teaching foreign affairs at Colby College and Colgate University. His wife, Jane, comes from Jackman and works as an English teacher at Camden Hills Regional High School. They have two boys, Kylian (age 5) and Matyas (4), who are constantly running away from their parents (when their parents are not running away from them).
When not on the tennis court, Milan can be found coaching youth hockey at the ice rink, swimming laps at the pool, hiking with his children in the Camden Hills State Park, riding his bicycle somewhere between Belfast and Wiscasset, or working on his next book in the public library. He is an accomplished endurance athlete and a fixture on Maine's triathlon scene. In his capacity as a tennis pro, he enjoys coaching clients of all ages and skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced players, helping them cultivate their game as part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Milan will be starting some new programs in the coming weeks and if you would like to contact him about a lesson you can reach him at:
