Music students present recital at BAHS
Belfast — Three Mount View High School seniors will be showcased in a spring recital, presented by the students of Diana Brookes Brown, Wednesday, June 11, at 7 p.m., at Belfast Area High School, 98 Waldo Ave. The recital is free and open to the public; for more information, call 567-3089.
All three are vocalists: Max Clark of Montville has studied for two and a half years; Andrew Cloutier of Liberty for three years; and Cay Outerbridge of Waldo is in his first year of private study. They have all been active in their high school music program, both as singers and instrumentalists, with wide-ranging interests including musical theater, beatboxing and barbershop. All three have participated multiple times in the Kennebec Valley Music Educators Association Festival and in Maine Music Educator’s Association All-State Music Festival. Their Senior Spotlight performances will include works by Handel, Schubert and Mozart, as well as some more popular genres.
Brown of Stockton Springs teaches flute and voice at Waterfall Arts in Belfast. Other students participating in this recital are Declan Brinn of Searsmont, Anna Struba and Paige Taylor of Belfast, flutes; and voice students Kayla Anderson of Brooks and Donna Chason of Unity. Their portion of the program will include works by Pachelbel, Vivaldi, Clementi, Haydn, Quantz, Bizet and Hook, as well as a few tunes from Broadway shows.
Guest performers will be Catharine Cloutier of Liberty, a former student now studying voice at the University of Maine in Orono; John Piotti of Unity; and Mert Danna of Jackson. Students will be accompanied by Brown on flute and pianist Deanna Sawtelle of Albion.
