Mustangs gallop to win, Lions fall in Sept. 18 matches
Both Waldo County high school golf teams were in action Wednesday, Sept. 18, as Mount View hosted Brewer and Belfast traveled to face Nokomis of Newport.
Both host teams defended its home course on the day as the Mustangs bested the Witches, while the Lions were downed on the road by the Warriors.
The following is a recap of both matches:
Mount View 183, Brewer 195
At Country View Golf Course in Brooks Sept. 18, the Mustangs galloped past the visiting Witches and claimed the win. Mount View finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole team stroke total of183 to 195 for Brewer.
The individual results, with Mount View golfers listed first, were: Erik Larrabee (37) beat Evan Riva (48); Ross Delorenzo (39) beat Tyler Williams (53); Cay Outerbridge (55) lost to Zach Torrey (49); Robert Dyer (56) lost to Tyler Brooks (48); Wes Turner (62) lost to Chase Allen (52); and Cassidy Gerrish (52) lost to Mark Colley (50).
Larrabee shot 37 to earn medalist honors.
Nokomis 189, Belfast 199
At Palmyra Golf Course Sept. 18, the Lions remained winless on the season as they were bested by 10 strokes against the Warriors. Nokomis finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole team stroke total of 189 to 199 for Belfast.
The individual results, with Belfast golfers listed first, were: Grant Starrett (57) lost to Jacob Cloutier (52); Logan Mitchell (46) lost to Ian Gordon (45); Alex Fritz (43) beat Sam Brown (46); Doyle Bailey (53) lost to Bryan Guesman (46); and Peter Brunette (65) lost to Logan Labree (53). Josh Adams also shot 70 for the Lions.
Fritz shot 43 to earn medalist honors.
