New Teacher Joins Belfast Yoga Studio Offering Free Classes
Deborah Rustin Cyr is a visual artist and a native Mainer who recently moved back to Maine after living “away” for many years. She will begin teaching ongoing slow-flow, gentle yin yoga classes at Belfast Yoga studio starting on January 9, offering free classes to everyone in the community, for the first week, so that people can get a taste of what her classes have to offer.
“Living with both rheumatoid and osteoarthritis myself, I know firsthand how yoga can help. My classes are particularly suited for people recovering from injuries or living with chronic pain,” Rustin Cyr explained.
Her teaching style draws from many schools of yogic thought and her classes typically combine gentle flow with yin and restorative poses. Bringing more than forty years of personal practice to her yoga teaching, Rustin Cyr’s philosophy is that every “body” can benefit from yoga and she makes use of props and modifications to support each student in safely achieving their individual goals. She recently completed her 200 hour teacher training with Well Heart Yoga School in Cornish, Maine and is a registered teacher with Yoga Alliance.
