New Year’s By The Bay on the way

Belfast’s downtown Parent Gallery is the headquarters for New Year’s By The Bay.

Belfast — New Year’s By The Bay is gearing up for the 16th annual chem-free, family-friendly celebration that will take place at venues all around the city Monday, Dec. 31.

Buttons available now

One button admits the wearer to all New Year’s By The Bay performances and activities; food purchases are separate. Cost is $18; $5 for K-12 students; and free for those younger than 5. Buttons are available for online purchase through PayPal through Sunday, Dec. 30 at nybb.org; and can be picked up Saturday, Dec. 15 through 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve at the NYBB 2013 HQ — Parent Gallery, 92 Main St. at the traffic light.

Call for volunteers

From 2 p.m. to midnight Dec. 31, more than 100 volunteers, teens to senior citizens, will be needed for two-and-a-half hour shifts each to help out with the downtown entertainment venues where the performances take place. It is fun, indoors “work” and each volunteer receives a free NYBB admission Button. Anyone, including couples, families and groups of friends, interested in volunteering is encouraged to contact Mary Mortier at 323-1748 or marym@midcoast.com.

Always a wonderfully entertaining family friendly event! Thanks, Mary, for all the organizing and hard work over the years. What a positive event for Belfast. I've volunteered for years and always hear extremely positive comments. Everyone is smiling. Quite the positive experience.
