Old Maine Fraternal Badges and Ribbons

By The Belfast Historical Society & Museum | Sep 20, 2016

“Old Maine Fraternal Ribbons, Badges, Pins and Regalia” will be the topic of the Belfast Historical Society’s meeting at 7:00 pm on Monday, September 26, in the Abbott Room at the Belfast Free Library. Sam Fuller of Stockton Springs, local collector and knowledgeable resource, will show a slide program and exhibit items from his personal collection. In the late 1800s, Belfast had at least a dozen secret societies, associations, clubs and lodges which included Masonic Lodges, the Odd Fellows Lodge, Knights of Pythias, and the Improved Order of the Red Men. All groups had distinctive and often elaborate uniforms, regalia and badges, used for ceremonial events.  The Belfast Museum will display badges and pins from its collection.

Belfast Historical Society programs are free and open to the public and are held April through October. FMI call 338-9229 or visit www.belfastmuseum.org for our Program Schedule.
