Open Call for Art Extended Deadline
The open call to artists for the August 2014 Juried Art Show has been extended through June 19 to give more artists a change to enter this open competition.
All proceeds from this show will benefit Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County which provides free end of life and bereavement support to all community members.
Accepted are works under 24" wide and up to four feet in height, in any medium include painting, relief, photography and collage. Sculpture and fine art crafts are also invited to be considered. Each piece should be professionally mounted and ready to hang on the wall for showing. All submitted work must be for sale and will help benefit the Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County with a 50/50 split between the artist and Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County (HVOWC).
Distinguished jurors include Belfast painter David Estey, who was recently selected by Maine Home + Design magazine as one of 37 well-known, highly respected and collectable Maine artists; Brooks sculptor, Kimberly Callas, a recipient of two Elizabeth Greenshield's Foundation Grants and the Stobart Foundation Grant; and Kevin Johnson, resident Photo Archivist at Penobscot Marine Museum, teacher and fine art photographer.
Pieces selected for the Juried Art Show and will be shown for the month of August at the Kramer Gallery on the ground floor of the Belfast Free Library. A Gala Celebration, artists reception and awards ceremony will be held on August 16 at the library. Multiple honors, prizes, cash awards and a special People’s Choice Award, voted on by the public, will be announced during the artist reception.
How to enter: Artists may electronically submit up to three works per entry. Suggested donation $25.00 per entry. This is only a suggested donation and other amounts, higher or lower, will be accepted and will have no connection to the artistic competition. Submission Deadline: June 19, midnight.
