"Too Koi" by Vaughn Hawley of Camden is part of his April show in the Belfast Co-op Café.

Belfast — "The Brush and the Lens," a show of oil paintings and large-format fine art photographic prints by Vaughn Hawley, will have an opening reception Friday, April 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Belfast Co-op Café, along with its monthly free wine tasting of highlighted seasonal wines, gourmet cheeses and crackers.

Hawley; Jack Scully of Easterly Wines; and Jaap Helder will be available to answer questions. Featured wines will be 10 percent off during the tasting; participants must be 21 years of age or older to attend.

Hawley of Camden has spent most of his life on the sea, sailing the East coast and the Caribbean, mostly small passenger vessels, larger sailboats and his own passenger schooner Appledore III. A stroke changed all that six years ago. He has since returned to oil painting and photography as a way to cope and recover his health. For more information about his work, visit hawleygallery.com. The Brush and the Lens" will be on display in the Co-op Café for the month of April.

All are welcome at the community-owned Belfast Co-op, open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 123 High St. For more information, call 338-2532 or visit belfast.coop.
