Belfast — A 75-year-old woman was treated at a local hospital for minor wounds she sustained when the driver of an SUV backed into her as she was walking through the McDonald's parking lot Monday night, July 23.

Belfast Detective Sgt. Bryan Cunningham said Patricia Clark, 75, of Belfast was walking across the lot just as 54-year-old Donna Allen of Searsmont was backing out of a parking space in her Chevrolet Equinox.

"[Allen] was backing up and she didn't see Patricia [Clark]," said Cunningham.

The rear of Allen's vehicle struck Clark and knocked her to the ground, but Cunningham said Clark wasn't seriously injured because Allen wasn't traveling very fast at the time of the collision.

"The extent of her injuries was the back of her head hurt," said Cunningham.

Belfast Ambulance personnel transported Clark to Waldo County General Hospital, and Cunningham said she has since released.
