Rockport — The Peewees took center stage — and ice — during the on-going Midcoast Classic Tournament, weekend youth ice hockey games hosted by the Midcoast Recreation Center over several weeks in late-February and early-March.

The Mites recently held their tourney, while the Squirts played March 1-2 and the Peewees on Saturday and Sunday, March 8-9. The Bantams will play Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16.

The tourneys include three games guaranteed for each squad. The first-place team will receive the “Midcoast Cup” for three months.

The Mites event recently was held as MRC hosted 12 teams, with the Casco Bay Royals the winner of the cup against the Maine Coast Skaters Association Hail Storm, the house or rink team, which placed second.

The Squirts were March 1-2, while the Peewees were March 8-9 and the Bantams will be March 15-16. There were/will be six teams in each of those tourneys.

Last weekend's Peewees schedule included six games Saturday and three games Sunday, before the semifinals in two divisions and the championship game late in the afternoon.

Statistical winners in each division from the first three games advance to the finals.

The roster for the Maine Coast Skaters Association Peewee team included: Hayden Thibeault, Jeret Winchenbach, Natalie Farrell, Zachary Dorr, Patrick Conlon, Lu Lu Lydon, Nicholas Tausek, Trevor Martell, Anikka Reinwand, Sam Davis, Sawyer Hanson, Luke Jordan, Caroline Contento, Camden Lebel, Megan Daniello and Jimmy Lynch. The head coach is Dave Daniello.

Additional information from the tourney was unavailable.
