Penobscot Marine gets set to open

Searsport — The downtown Penobscot Marine Museum will hold a free opening reception for “The Net Result: Our Evolving Fisheries,” part of 2017’s “Gone Fishing!” exhibition, Thursday, May 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Main Street Gallery, 40 East Main St./Route 1.

The season will open Saturday, May 27, from 1 to 5 p.m. with $1 museum admission all day. The afternoon of boat talk and music will fete the career and talents of MDI boatbuilder, National Heritage Fellow and Penobscot Marine Museum Trustee Ralph Stanley.
