Personal money management workshops offered

Jan 02, 2013

Belfast — “Making the Most of Your Money Series” will be offered by Women, Work and Community at the Belfast Free Library in the Third Floor Conference Room on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 16.

The free three-week series is open to adults of all ages and backgrounds. You may sign up for one or more of the series, although it’s best to do all three since the classes build on each other. Registration at least one week before the workshop is required. The schedule is:

Jan. 16: “Improving Your Relationship with Money.” Using the “Money Habitudes” card sort activity, you will learn about your money habits and attitudes; how they affect your money choices; and how you can change old practices.

Jan. 23: “Finding Your Money Power Payment.” Looking at your household spending plan, find places where you can reduce expenses, increase income, and create a “power payment” you can use to save for the future or reduce debt.

Jan. 30: “Reducing Your Debt.” Learn strategies for reducing your debt and improving your credit score.

To register, contact Linda Buckmaster at 596-2615 or lsbuck@maine.edu. For more information on this and other programs, visit www.womenworkandcommunity.org. Workshops are supported in part by a grant from the FINRA Investor Education Foundation, through a partnership with United Way Worldwide.
