Poet Laureate sets library hours
Belfast — The Belfast Free Library has announced that the city’s poet laureate will be present and available to meet with the public during regular office hours on library premises.
On Tuesdays from 1 to 3 p.m., Belfast Poet Laureate Ellen Sander will be available on the third floor in the Conference Room with reference materials on hand. Members of the public, poetry lovers of all kinds and those curious about the subject are encouraged to stop by either announced or unannounced and to session with the poet.
Sander also hopes that those with suggestions for poetry programming in the area will take advantage of this opportunity to meet with the “public poet” of Belfast to coordinate efforts. Those who would like more exposure to poetry are encouraged to stop by, as well.
The office of Belfast Poet Laureate is a public service post appointed by the City of Belfast in support of the artistic and literary community and to creatively contribute to the local atmosphere for artists and non-artists alike. Belfast Free Library has worked with previous Belfast poets laureate, including sponsorship of and participation in the Belfast Poetry Festival and other cultural events, and is glad to support cultural directives in the area.
Belfast Free Library is at 106 High St. The poet laureate may be contacted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
