Poetry course offered at Hutchinson Center
Belfast — The University of Maine’s Hutchinson Center will offer, for the first time, ENG 229 Reading and Writing Poetry during the spring semester. The class will taught by Joanna Crouse and will be video-conferenced between both Orono and Belfast.
ENG 229 will meet Thursdays from 5:30 to 8 p.m. beginning Jan. 17. Students will develop their own unique voices by writing from fun, playful prompts; listening to and watching poets recite original works; and reading a variety of poems to better appreciate the essential role poetry has always played in the world. From haiku to sonnets, the class will explore the poetry spectrum.
For more information or to register, call the Maine Hutchinson Center at 338-8000 or, toll-free, (800) 753-9044.
