Police: Car goes off road in Belfast trying to avoid another vehicle

A single-car accident on Back Searsport Road reduced traffic to one lane on the afternoon of Friday, July 18.

At approximately 2:40 p.m. a woman was driving a 2005 Chevy Equinox LT east on Back Searsport Road, about 1.5 miles from the intersection of Swan Lake Avenue. She told Belfast police officers Roy Smith and Lewis Dyer that she was crowded by a bus-like vehicle and went off the road trying to avoid it. The driver reported neck pain, neck spasms and shoulder pain, and was transported to Waldo County General Hospital for evaluation.

Belfast ambulance and fire department also responded to the scene and the car was towed by Dan's Towing of Belfast.
