Mechanical failure blamed in Route 1 rollover
Prospect — A Bucksport driver suffered bumps and bruises after police say her vehicle had a mechanical failure just before she went off the road and rolled the vehicle onto its roof Wednesday morning, Aug. 21.
Waldo County Sheriff's Deputy Benjamin Seekins said 28-year-old Rebecca Woodward of Bucksport was headed toward Stockton Springs in a 2005 Dodge Neon when the check engine light came on in her vehicle.
“She tried to veer over to the side of the road to look into the issue and she lost her brakes,” said Seekins. “She went off the road and the vehicle rolled over.”
Woodward was transported by Stockton Springs ambulance attendants to Waldo County General Hospital, where she was treated for bumps and bruises and later released. The vehicle, said Seekins, was totaled as a result of the crash.
While Woodward suffered relatively minor injuries, Seekins said the accident left her quite shaken.
“She was pretty upset when I was going over to talk to her in the ambulance,” said Seekins.
