Police investigating theft of tools from construction site
Belfast — Belfast police officers are investigating the report of a burglary at a new home that is under construction on Old Searsport Road in which the building contractor reported the loss of about $800 worth of tools Monday, May 12.
Belfast Officer Rick Smith said police responded to the reported break-in early Monday morning at 50 Old Searsport Road. Smith said whoever took the items from the site appeared to have kicked in a side door and entered the structure through the garage.
Smith said the contractor was last at the site during the previous week, so the theft could have occurred at any time over the past week. The items reported missing, said Smith, were smaller tools that could easily be carried off by a person on foot such as levels, finish nailers, an air compressor and a shop radio.
Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the Belfast Police Department at 338-2420.
