Belfast — Police are searching for a vehicle that struck a road sign on Route 3 in Belfast around midnight on Wednesday, Feb. 12.

Detective Sgt. Bryan Cunningham said police received a report of debris in the road on Route 3 near Dutch Chevrolet around midnight on Wednesday. Responding officers found a fog light and other pieces of the vehicle at the scene, Cunningham said.

He said the vehicle most likely sustained significant front-end damage on the driver's side portion. Cunningham said he has been unable to determine the make and model of the vehicle even after running the serial number on the fog light because the piece is used in numerous types of vehicles.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact police at 338-2040.
