I do believe Porcelain tiles are worth the extra expense, although little difference in the materials used to make the tile, Porcelain tile is fired for a longer time. As a result, porcelain tiles are more rugged making them ideal for harsher applications such as flooring. Also, because of their higher density, porcelain tiles are less likely to absorb moisture (0.5%) which makes them more durable and more resistant to staining. Porcelain For a few hundred dollars you’re going to get a lot more mileage out of your floor tiles. The installation is much more expensive than the materials so why not buy a tile that will last a lifetime so that you only have to pay for installation once.
