Poster contest deadline coming up

Mar 10, 2017

Union — Entries for the annual Union Fair poster contest are accepted through Friday, March 31. Trustees of the Union Fair & Maine Wild Blueberry Festival are looking for a design suitable for use in publicizing the annual event, which will run Aug. 19 through 26.

Entries should reflect the themes of this traditional agricultural fair that may include, but are not limited to, blueberries, agriculture, fairs/carnivals, farm animals, 4-H, crafts, harness racing, etc. Posters should reflect both the aspects of a traditional agricultural fair and the Wild Blueberry Festival.

Artwork should be poster size, approximately 14-by-20 inches, and need not include lettering, dates, etc. The selected poster’s artist will be awarded a prize of $500. All rights to the selected design will become the property of the Union Fair. It is hoped that the artist will be available, though not required, to attend one or more days during fair week to be recognized and to sign posters, etc.

Medium is artist’s choice, but submissions must be in color. The selected design will be utilized in the production of posters and other media, so colors should be strong; and the design bold and graphic, avoiding elements that do not reproduce clearly such as shading.

Entries and entry form (available at unionfair.org) should be delivered to: Union Fair - Matthews Museum; C/O George R. Gross; P.O. Box 582; Union, ME 04862. Submissions also may be dropped off at the Union Town Office on Common Road, Attn: Jay Feyler.
